A Los Angeles federal judge denied Snap Inc. a quick win in a patent infringement lawsuit that targets one of the core technologies behind its popular social media app.

U.S. District Judge Marilyn Huff refused on Tuesday to grant Snap's motion for summary judgment to dismiss a lawsuit brought by Vaporstream, a company that specializes in secure electronic messaging.
