State Bar's board backs charging attorneys for re-fingerprinting

The state Supreme Court would need to adopt the proposal for it to become effective

The State Bar’s board voted unanimously to require attorneys to pay the costs of being re-fingerprinted, an initiative that will allow the agency to receive reports of lawyer arrests and convictions.

The proposed rule approved Friday must be adopted by the state Supreme Court to go into effect. The bar has estimated the average re-fingerprinting cost per attorney would be $82.
