National Center for Lesbian Rights head to depart

Kate Kendell — who joined the organization in 1994 and has served as executive director since 1996 — will step down at the end of the year.

As executive director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, Kate Kendell witnessed history time and time again. During her tenure, Kendell tackled LGBTQ parenting issues such as custody and adoption, and crusaded for same sex marriage.
