Sessions’ illegal entry focus stirs controversy

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has announced an aggressive new “zero-tolerance policy” to crack down on illegal immigration along the southern border.

In a memo issued Friday, Sessions ordered the U.S. Attorney in San Diego along with other offices on the U.S.-Mexico border to prosecute all Department of Homeland Security (DHS) referrals of illegal entry cases, “to the extent practicable.”
