Supreme Court approves package of new ethics rules

The 69 new and amended rules developed by the State Bar become effective Nov. 1

The California Supreme Court on Thursday approved a package of 69 new and amended Rules of Professional Conduct for attorneys, the first overhaul in nearly three decades. The updated ethics rules go into effect Nov. 1.

The rules crafted by the State Bar cover topics ranging from prohibited discrimination to conflicts of interest to sexual relations with clients.
