Senate committee recommends cut in judicial watchdog’s budget

A state Senate budget subcommittee has recommended a $500,000 cut to the annual budget of the Commission on Judicial Performance, citing the agency’s lawsuit against the state auditor.

SACRAMENTO -- A state Senate budget subcommittee has recommended a $500,000 cut to the annual budget of the Commission on Judicial Performance, citing the agency's lawsuit against the state auditor.

This would represent a nearly 10 percent cut to the commission's budget. The agency is slated to receive $5.2 million under Gov. Jerry Brown's revised 2018-19 budget proposal introduced last week.
