For Los Angeles trial lawyer Bruce Van Dalsem, success in helicopter skiing comes down to five things.

“You need the ability, time, money, spousal permission and adequate life insurance,” he said.

“And the way you get No. 4 is by having enough of No. 5,” Van Dalsem added, laughing.

Van Dalsem started skiing at 9. “So I started late,” he joked.
