An Alameda County judge has denied Tesla Inc.'s attempt to compel arbitration via an unsigned agreement with a former contractor who alleged the company's Fremont factory was rife with racism.

According to the lawsuit filed last fall, the plaintiff said he lost his job after complaining that African-American workers at the factory are routinely called by a racial slur and harassed for their race.
