Judge blasts lawyers in data breach case for high fee request

U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh of San Jose berated plaintiffs’ attorneys at a Thursday hearing for including insufficient information in their fee request in one of the largest data breach settlements on record.

SAN JOSE -- U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh berated plaintiffs' attorneys at a Thursday hearing for including insufficient information in their fee request in one of the largest data breach settlements on record.

The case involved a 2015 data breach at insurance company Anthem Inc. that exposed the personal data of 79 million people. Anthem settled the case in June 2017 for $115 million.
