Judge rejects bid to remove attorney general from November ballot

A Sacramento County judge has dismissed a lawsuit seeking to kick incumbent Attorney General Xavier Becerra off the fall ballot, but plaintiff Eric P. Early vowed to appeal.

SACRAMENTO -- A Sacramento County judge has dismissed a lawsuit seeking to kick incumbent Attorney General Xavier Becerra off the fall ballot, but plaintiff Eric P. Early vowed to appeal.

Early claimed Becerra was ineligible to hold the office because he let his California State Bar license lapse while he served 12 terms in Congress. Early v. Becerra, 80002902 (Sacramento Co. Super. Ct., filed May 29, 2018).
