A lawsuit seeking bond hearings for asylum seekers across the nation could be undercut by an immigration court case Attorney General Jeff Sessions is expected to decide.

Sessions announced he is looking into whether immigration judges have the authority to grant bond hearings for detained asylum seekers and requested briefing on the topic last week. Matter of M-G-G-, 27 I&N Dec. 469 (A.G. 2018).
