Governor vetoes bill to bar immigration arrests in courthouses
Gov. Jerry Brown rejected a bill Thursday that would have barred civil arrests by immigration officials at California’s courthouses.

California Supreme Court Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye has repeatedly called for a halt to these arrest by federal immigration officials, saying they dissuade people in the country illegally from reporting crimes and testifying against perpetrators.
