Ex-public defender arraigned on rape charge

Former deputy public defender Rahul Balaram pleaded not guilty to charges he raped a colleague after a holiday work party last year.

Former Solano County deputy public defender Rahul Balaram pleaded not guilty Monday to charges he raped a colleague after a holiday work party last year.

Balaram was indicted by a Solano County grand jury in August. People v. Balaram, FCR339527 (Solano Super. Ct., filed Aug. 2, 2018). It said it found evidence he had assaulted another deputy public defender after she had become intoxicated at the office's 2017 holiday party...
