Judge OKs Avenatti bankruptcy transfer to district court

Michael Avenatti and his former partner also were ordered to negotiate in ‘good faith’ in anticipation of a Nov. 28 hearing.

A magistrate judge has confirmed that Michael Avenatti's bankruptcy case can transfer to district court.

The recent order from U.S. Magistrate Judge Karen E. Scott cites an earlier order from U.S. District Judge Virginia A. Phillips, who authorized the withdrawal of the reference to U.S. Bankruptcy Court after a brief hearing in Los Angeles Oct. 22.
