30 times more privileged calls recorded in OC than previous sworn testimony revealed

The number of calls were disclosed Friday in a hearing before Orange County Superior Court Judge Gregory L. Prickett, who is overseeing an investigation into the recordings with the help of a special master.

Orange County Superior Court Judge Gregory L. Prickett presided over a hearing at which it was revealed that more than 33,000 calls between criminal lawyers and their clients were recorded in the county by contractor Global Tel Link.

Nearly 35,000 privileged calls between criminal defense attorneys and their clients were recorded in Orange County, according to documents previously under seal, more than 30 times more than the number originally disclosed by the phone company responsible for what it said was an error.
