Bipartisan bill to end PACER fees is reintroduced

Lawmakers in the U.S. House of Representatives have reintroduced bipartisan legislation that would remove financial barriers to accessing federal court documents online.

Lawmakers in the U.S. House of Representatives have reintroduced bipartisan legislation that would make access to federal court documents online free.

Currently, the federal judiciary charges 10 cents per page for online papers. Whole documents purchased as PDF files are capped at $3.

But the nation's court system may have to make those files free if the bill introduced Wednesday becomes law.
