California groundwater management milestone looms

As 2019 draws to a close, local agencies in 21 groundwater basins throughout the state are preparing to submit the first Groundwater Sustainability Plans under 2014’s historic Sustainable Groundwater Management Act.

As 2019 draws to a close, local agencies in 21 groundwater basins throughout the state are preparing to submit the first Groundwater Sustainability Plans under 2014's historic Sustainable Groundwater Management Act. The plans are a major landmark in that law's ambitious directive, which calls for all groundwater basins within the state of California to be sustainably managed by 2042.
