A few years ago, I wrote a blog that went viral -- which is to say it attracted "haters." It's funny on the internet, and possibly it was the case prior, that you are at your most popular when being "trolled." The essay had the title, "Why I Might Not Say Hello to You at the Gym." I still might not say hello, and it is worth explaining why -- though for the record, I almost always in fact say hello spontaneously and I wouldn't deliberately fail to exchange greetings.
