High court guidance on unemployment benefits public school employees
In a recent decision the California Supreme Court established a framework for determining when public school employees are eligible for unemployment benefits during the summer and other “non-traditional” academic terms.

An almost 10-year dispute over whether public school employees may collect unemployment insurance benefits over the summer has finally ended -- almost. Although the California Supreme Court has remanded the matter for further fact finding, it has now established the legal framework for making eligibility determinations that will guide public school districts going forward.
