Presidential proclamation suspending entry to visa workers presents risks to US employers following COVID-19 restrictions

On June 22, the White House issued a new presidential proclamation to suspend the entry of new H-1B, L-1, certain J-1 and other temporary work visas for highly skilled workers through the end of the year. The proclamation also extended an existing ban on certain immigrant entries through the end of the year.

On June 22, the White House issued a new presidential proclamation to suspend the entry of new H-1B, L-1, certain J-1 and other temporary work visas for highly skilled workers through the end of the year. The proclamation also extended an existing ban on certain immigrant entries through the end of the year. The latest proclamation arrives amidst other global travel restrictions brought about by COVID-19 including U.S. consular closures worldwide.
