LA judges paired with bench aspirants in mentor program

Mentors will give bench aspirants a good sense of what the job actually is so they can mold their applications and their thought processes in preparation for a possible judicial appointment.

Judge Yvette Verastegui, co-chair of the Los Angeles County Superior Court judicial mentor committee, helps match her colleagues with attorneys who aspire to the bench.

Los Angeles County judges will be paired up with lawyers who have bench aspirations as part of a new mentorship program to encourage diversity and demystify the application process.

The program was developed by superior court judges in collaboration with the office of Gov. Gavin Newsom.
