State prisons deny coercing inmates into waiving liability if they refuse transfers and die of COVID

High risk inmates who refused to move to safer quarters were asked to sign a form stating they understood the risks, stated a prisons department spokeswoman.

The state prisons department has rejected allegations raised by inmates who said they are being coerced into signing waivers accepting responsibility for their own deaths from COVID-19 if they refuse to be transferred to another facility.
