Litigator Mary Jo C. Shartsis, co-founder of Shartsis Friese LLP and one of the pioneers of women in law in San Francisco, “was the person you wanted on your side when things got difficult,” said her husband of 49 years, Arthur J. Shartsis. He confirmed her death on Sunday at 78.
