Longest serving public defender in state’s history was gentle and tough
Paulino G. Duran, the longest-serving head of a public defender’s office in the state’s history, was known for his warmth and soft-spoken demeanor, Sacramento County Superior Court Presiding Judge Russell L. Hom said Friday.
“He was an advocate, but he was nonetheless sort of a gentle being,” Hom said.
