Jones Day says file transfer platform used by several firms was hacked

Accellion, the company that provided the platform, says it was a 20-year-old product nearing its discontinuation, and was targeted in a cyberattack that began in December and continued into January.

Jones Day said Wednesday its network has not been breached, nor was it subject to a ransomware attack. But perhaps more worrisome is the firm’s statement that it was a file transfer platform provided by a company used by several law firms that was compromised by a hacker.

Jones Day is possibly the second to have been compromised in a data security breach within Accellion USA LLC’s FTA.
