Two law firms win $39.5M settlement for Cal State student

Brian Panish of Panish Shea & Boyle LLP, who represented the plaintiff along with Adam Shea, Patrick Gunning and sole practitioner Richard Sailer of Sailer Law Firm APC, said the most important thing about the settlement was that the family wanted the school to employ new rules to prevent such a thing from happening to another student.

A $39.5 million settlement awarded to a student who suffered brain damage and heat stroke during a running class at Cal State San Bernardino has been approved by a superior court judge, with the school agreeing to implement new policies to prevent similar incidents.
