CJP oversight, public recording of court streaming in new bills

AB1577 would create the “Committee to Review the Operations and Structure of the Commission on Judicial Performance.” This body, made up of mostly public members, would hold at least two comment hearings and issue a report in March 2023 with recommended changes to the agency.

Bills proposed in the California Assembly this week would allow the public to record virtual court hearings and put new scrutiny on the Commission on Judicial Performance.

These measures were among five bills the Assembly Judiciary Committee introduced on Monday. Others would mandate procedural changes in the family courts and in money judgment cases. AB 1576 would require superior courts to allow attorneys to use the same lactation ...
