Opponents, supporters of state labor secretary lobby Congress

The California Business and Industrial Alliance, a trade organization that was launched in 2017 to challenge California's Private Attorneys General Act and one of Su's most vocal opponents, published a 31-page report last week detailing how Su's decisions in her current role may have enabled massive fraud against the state's Employment Development Department.

Ahead of Tuesday's hearing on the nomination of California Labor Secretary Julie A. Su to serve as the U.S. deputy secretary of labor, debates around Su's eligibility for the role are heating up -- with multiple campaigns pointing to her decades-long labor record to either support or warn against her confirmation.
