Rule update: Lawyers must maintain tech competency

With the change to Rule 1.1 that went into effect Monday, addressing competency, lawyers now must “keep abreast of the changes in the law and law practice, including the benefits and risks associated with relevant technology.”

Apart from adapting to remote work during the pandemic, lawyers now have one more incentive to make sure their technological competency is up to date, after recent changes to the Rules of Professional Conduct.
