LA DA slashes gang, narcotics divisions
Prosecutors in the Hardcore Gang Unit and Major Narcotics Division attended virtual meetings Wednesday, when they were told both units are being cut in half and that the gang unit will take on a new name, said deputies who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon has slashed staffing levels in two specialized units that prosecute gang members and significant narcotics cases in the nation’s largest county, according to multiple deputy district attorneys familiar with the move.
