Health care company to pay $97M over inflated claims

Under a $5 billion contract with Veterans Affairs, Health Net,based in Los Angeles County, was a third-party administrator securing private health care for veterans, reimbursing providers for services, and billing the VA.

A California health care company serving veterans paid over $97 million to resolve duplicate and inflated claims submitted to the Department of Veterans Affairs, Acting U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert of the Eastern District of California announced Tuesday.
