Advertisers’ suit against Google can proceed with amendments

The hourlong hearing in San Francisco on Thursday covered the severability of claims and whether other technology giants like Facebook Inc. count as equivalent competitors in the online advertising market.

A federal judge said Thursday she will allow a lawsuit by digital advertisers against Google to proceed, but will require the plaintiffs to file an amended complaint.

"I'm not even saying these are going to be massive amendments," U.S. District Judge Beth L. Freeman said. "I want to be clear. I do see this case moving forward."
