SAN JOSE - An important patent case was going before new U.S. District Judge Beth Labson Freeman, so Ronald S. Lemieux went to scope out her courtroom.
Freeman had come from 13 years as a superior court judge in San Mateo County, but Lemieux wanted to see how she was doing in a different league.
