Ex-LA deputy gets 7 years for ‘movie script’ heist
The former law enforcement officer faced a maximum sentence of life in prison on charges including conspiracy to distribute marijuana, conspiracy to deprive rights under color of law and brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a drug crime, according to court records.




A former Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy, who used his law enforcement credentials to stage a blockbuster-style heist of more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana and over half a million dollars, has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison after accepting a plea deal with prosecutors.
