Ventura County sued over jail inmate’s suicide
The complaint, filed in the Central District of California by Edward M. Lyman of the Cochran Firm, accuses the sheriff and medical provider of routinely denying the inmate psychiatric care despite knowing suffered from schizophrenia.




The parents of a man who committed suicide in a Ventura County jail after he was detained for more than two years without a trial filed a federal civil rights and wrongful death lawsuit Tuesday against the county, its sheriff and a private for-profit medical contractor, alleging the death was caused by deliberate indifference to the inmate's mental health needs.
