Senate Judiciary Committee passes 2 bills to help workers in wage disputes

SB 572, or the Workforce Asset Guarantee & Enforcement Act, makes it easier for the labor commissioner to collect unpaid wages by recording a real property lien against an employer’s property, as an alternative to a judgment lien.

Two bills to help employees in wage dispute cases passed unopposed in the state Senate Judiciary Committee this week.

Sen. Robert Hertzberg, D-Van Nuys, chairman of the committee, introduced SB 572 and SB 505, both of which passed after a hearing on Tuesday.
