Law firm must cooperate with CFPB probe, 9th Circuit rules

The decision against Seila Law LLC is expected to affect several other cases involving civil penalties and investigations that have been on hold while the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decided the case.

After a complaint that went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, an Orange law firm will be required to produce documents and answer interrogatories in response to an inquiry by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, a federal appellate court ruled Friday.
