Can defendant’s waiver free counsel to work for DA during trial?

An agreement stipulates LA County DA Gascon will allow defense attorney Lawrence Middleton to continue representing his client in a felony trial while acting as a special prosecutor for the county.

A Los Angeles County deputy district attorney has asked a judge to look into the validity of a draft agreement purporting to waive any conflict of interest between District Attorney George Gascón and private defense attorney Lawrence S.
