Foster Farms sues insurer over antitrust coverage

In its complaint filed in the Northern District of California, Foster Farms said it paid Everest National Insurance Company hundreds of thousands of dollars in premiums for a liability insurance policy, which included antitrust coverage.

Foster Farms sued one of its insurers Tuesday, alleging it breached its policy when it refused to cover three antitrust lawsuits that the poultry company is facing.

Those lawsuits -- all proposed class actions filed in 2019 and 2020 in federal court in Illinois -- alleged Foster Farms and 10 other companies conspired to suppress supplies of turkey to raise prices.
