Governor names 2 new justices, promotes 2 and appoints 19 trial judges

The majority of the 23 nominees and appointees are people of color and women. On July 1, Newsom announced a statewide judicial mentor program designed to get more women and people of color to apply for the bench.

Gov. Gavin Newsom nominated two court of appeal justices, named two for elevation and appointed 19 superior court judges on Friday.

Two divisions of the 1st District Court of Appeal are to get new presiding justices: Alison M. Tucher in Division 3 and Teri L. Jackson in Division 5.
