Labor commissioner: Groceries didn’t give COVID sick leave

Labor Commissioner Lilia García-Brower issued $447,836 in citations against Bodega Latina Corp., which owns 52 El Super grocery stores in California. The company denied the allegations and said it would fight the citations in court.

California’s labor commissioner has cited a food sector company for the first time for not providing workers with COVID-19 supplemental paid sick leave.

A spokesman for the cited company said Tuesday’s allegations are false.
