Mixed ruling in hospitals’ anti-SLAPP defense against doctor

California Supreme Court Justice Leondra R. Kruger wrote that Dr. Aram Bonni can sue St. Joseph Health System for the disciplinary action against him but not necessarily statements made at the hospital’s peer review hearing or actions reported to other agencies.

The state Supreme Court on Thursday rejected a hospital chain's bid to dismiss a doctor's retaliation lawsuit after he was suspended and his privileges were terminated, but the justices concluded some of the hospitals' actions might be protected under California's anti-SLAPP law.
