Jury awards dog bite victims $20.8M, defense to appeal

The San Luis Obispo County jury ruled July 29 in the lawsuit by attorneys for Betty Long and David Fear, who according to the complaint were attacked by a former police dog. Fear later died.

A jury in San Luis Obispo County awarded the victims of a retired police dog attack $20.8 million, but the defense has promised to appeal, citing California Supreme Court precedent and possibly prejudicial comments from the judge.
