Arbitrator awards $1M in Black Tesla worker’s lawsuit

Elaine Rushing, a neutral with JAMS and former Sonoma County Superior Court judge, awarded the employee $266,278 in damages and $755,579 in attorney fees. Sole practitioners Jeannette A. Vaccaro of San Francisco and Lawrence A. Organ of San Anselmo represented the employee.

An arbitrator ordered Tesla to pay more than $1 million to a Black former employee who said in his complaint he was subjected to a racially hostile environment where "the N-word was commonplace and tolerated."
