Female grandmaster sues over 'The Queen's Gambit'
According to the lawsuit, “The Queen’s Gambit” draws on Nona Gaprindashvili’s career, but depicts a fictional chess commentator claiming that she never faced men. The show also described the Georgian native as Russian.




The first woman to achieve the title of international chess grandmaster in competition with men sued Netflix on Thursday for $5 million alleging defamation for comments made in a television show, "The Queen's Gambit."
Described as a pioneer and an icon in her native country of Georgia, Nona Gaprindashvili beat some of the best chess players in the world throughout her career.
