Governor signs bill to build multiple housing units in single family neighborhoods
Senate Bill 9, one of four Newsom signed Thursday, will allow as many as two duplexes — two houses with attached units for a total of four — on lots in neighborhoods zoned for single-family dwellings, without approval from city and county officials. SB 9, along with SB8 and SB10, are designed to address homelessness and a lack of affordable housing, according to Newsom.
