AG sues State Personnel Board over prison guard reinstatement

“Modification of the penalty is appropriate because dismissal is out of proportion to the proven misconduct,” the Personnel Board had decided.

Attorney General Rob Bonta sued the State Personnel Board over its decisions to reinstate six correctional officers fired for alleged prisoner abuse.

The board, according to court documents, said the dismissal of the guards was out of proportion to the alleged conduct and that in each case, the prisoners had started the altercation.
