Jury awards $10.6M in noneconomic damages to adult sons’ parents

“Oftentimes, these are extremely difficult cases to get the jury to understand what a parent’s losses are for an adult son. It was essential for our clients that their sons’ value be recognized and this jury did that, I believe,” said Jason P. Fowler of Parris Law Firm.

A Van Nuys jury awarded $10.6 million in noneconomic damages to the parents of two brothers who were killed when a drunk driver crashed into them while driving on the wrong side of the 405 freeway.

The 12-person jury, who decided the damage award solely on noneconomic damages, returned the verdict after four hours of deliberation Thursday, Lancaster plaintiffs' attorney Jason P. Fowler of Parris Law Firm said Monday.
