Judge grants partial class of raided safety deposit box owners

Filed in May by the Institute for Justice on behalf of a group of box renters, the lawsuit sought the return of the named plaintiffs’ property. It also sought return of the property of all other renters who had come forward and identified themselves to the government.

A federal judge has granted in part class certification for a group of named plaintiffs alleging constitutional violations in an unlawful FBI raid on a private safety deposit box company in Beverly Hills.
