Disbarred lawyer to plead to stealing $300K by lying that he won cases

Matthew C. Elstein of Redondo Beach will admit that he lied to clients about their cases and forged documents to deceive them. Elstein’s conduct resulted in losses of at least $358,855 to his victims.

A former California lawyer will plead guilty to fraud charges after stealing over $300,000 from clients, the Department of Justice announced Wednesday.

Matthew C. Elstein of Redondo Beach will admit that he lied to clients about their cases and forged documents to deceive them. Elstein's conduct resulted in losses of at least $358,855 to his victims.
